Story Book Plan Week 4: Chiranjivi

I have chosen for my project to do a storybook about Chiranjivi. I have chosen this topic because the thought of immortal men interests me. I have decided to do a retelling of three stories based on three of the Chiranjivi. I have chosen to go with a theme of warriors. These will be stories of revenge and fighting. The first story will be about Parashurama getting revenge on behalf of his slain father. The second will be a story similar to the first and will be about Ashwatthama getting revenge for his father. The last will be a story about aid given to Rama by Jambavan. I will be looking to highlight the weapons of each of these in their battles. I however will be mixing it up by making each story over with different names for the characters and settings. I will still be doing music for these stories to add a background to each. However, for this I will do depending on the setting of each of the stories. I will probably end up doing different places around the world with the three characters.

Topic Research Week 3

I have narrowed the possible projects to the following three ideas. I have also brainstormed a couple changes to a few of them that might help narrow down what exactly I do it over.

Weapons- The first idea I have is to write stories regarding the weapons. I am narrowing down what weapons to put in my quest to defeat the ultimate enemy. While reading into the story Mahabharata I read about the weapon Pashupatastra, which is a super powerful weapon that I will save towards the end of the quest. I now need to pick one lesser weapon that will be used maybe for defense. So, one story for a defensive weapon, one story for the Pashupatastra weapon, and the last story for the epic battle.

Avatars- I will be sticking to this concept because I feel it is a great option for a series of stories! I believe that I may choose an unlikely avatar for some of the natural disasters. One of them that will oddly save humanity. Once I decide on the exact disasters, I will select the avatars. I believe for the final story it will be several avatars coming down to fight maybe a demon army. I think that would be interesting. Sources: Avatars

Chiranjivi- I still will go with the three ideas listed for this, I don’t really want to change the idea that much. Parashurama will get vengeance for his father. As will be the story about Ashwatthama. It will be about the vengeance for his father against the Pandava. The last story about Jambavan will be a story about him fighting to protect Rama. As for the storybook I will want to play different songs for each story and plug that in near the beginning so it can be clicked on before reading. I saw others do this and thought it was a great idea. I believe that these will make for good stories!

Topic Brainstorming

The first project idea that I have is something involving deities. I will combine several of the different deities into one story. That or I will combine two of deities into three stories. So I will have three different combinations. I may even involve more than two in some of the stories. I will be using this Source to help find the deities that I will use. I also will use this source to find further knowledge of each of the deities. I am not all to familiar with deities but I feel by the end of this project I will know enough about them to possibly bring them into three different stories.

The next option that is a possibility for the storybook is over possible ancient weapons of the gods. I would like to do research into the legends of each of the weapons and write a story revolving around three of them. I would place the weapon in the modern time with a hero trying to collect all three. Each story would be about the hero running in to one of the gods and beseeching them to give up the weapon so that he might use them to defeat a great and powerful enemy. I will use this source to find out more about the weapons. This will help me to pick the weapons that would work best.

The third option for a storybook is over the concept of Avatars of the Gods. For this story I will take the concept of avatars and produce a few stories with different gods that come down to earth to save mankind. The most notable of these is Vishnu. I will make Vishnu the savior in the story coming down to save mankind from some sort of evil. He will come down and offer his aid to mankind in various different forms. He will save them from several different natural disasters brought on by a demon lord. I will use this source to help me understand the various different avatars of Vishnu.

The last idea that I have is over the concept of Chiranjivi. I have always been fascinated with the topic of immortality. I would like to do three stories about three of the different immortals. I would like the three stories to be about Parashurama, Ashwatthama, and Jambavan. The first two of the immortals will be stories about a vengeance that took place. For Parashurama it will be vengeance for his father. As will be the story about Ashwatthama. It will be about the vengeance for his father against the Pandava. The last story about Jambavan will be a story about him fighting to protect Rama.
